|WSQ’s Public Relations Committee supports all WSQ--SC events, activities, and our annual Quilt Show.
Throughout the year, we develop publicity for our Quarterly Meetings, speakers and workshops, Bus Trips, Charity Central, our participation at the Fair, Quilt Education, the Quilting Bee, and our Annual Yard Sale. We also prepare our annual Membership Brochure and support publicity for our annual Quilt Show and Raffle Quilt, including articles, work in conjunction with others to write the quilt show program, and advertisements.
We work closely with each committee chair to develop appropriate media and distribution.
We prepare and distribute press releases and announcements, paid and unpaid ads, fliers, posters, and postcards. When possible, we write articles for use by local newspapers and The Country Register, a regional crafting newsletter.
Our materials are distributed to local and regional newspapers (the Spokesman-Review and Inlander), newsletters, quilt shops, and other quilting guilds. We also publicize our Quilt Show to senior centers and retirement homes.
We post our events on other websites hosted by local tourism organizations, other guilds, and quilting sites. We're currently working on our radio and television presence.
Our committee conducted a survey at the Quilt Show in 2013 to find out which publicity most effectively reaches our quilting fans. Also new since 2013, we support our online presence on FaceBook, Flickr, and Craigslist (when appropriate).
Our committee meets quarterly.
If you have an interest in marketing, writing, or graphics design-- or like to work with Excel, word processing, graphics design programs, or make cold calls on potential media outlets, WE NEED YOU! No person does it all, but you might find your special niche on this committee.
